about
A song inspired by quitting my job! 😮
It is rather dramatised. I wasn't having the best time and I did leave, but it wasn't half as melodramatic as these lyrics. However, the hyperbole was incredibly satisfying to write.
lyrics
Keep all your hope safe and sound
No seed can grow in this ground
I've seen our plans taken root
Lost in the shift and the move
And now I feel like Lazarus rising from the dead
And I can feel those circuit-breakers coming on again
My heart is shedding all its stones
My hands are cracking off the shell that they have grown
And I'm pretty sure that I am not alone
Keep all your plans wrapped up tight
Safe in the back of your mind
I built up my dreams for the day I could fly
Look at the world in the light
And now I feel like Lazarus rising from the dead
And I can feel those circuit-breakers coming on again
My heart is shedding all its stones
My hands are cracking off the shell that they have grown
And I'm pretty sure that I am not alone
I am not alone
Leave all your dreams turned to nightmares behind
Now I have nothing but time
